This bed was an improvement upon the ones available in the market with their vertical ladders, the general lack of height below the upper bunk and the lack of extendable double bed option at the base.
The stairs that took the place of the ladder in this option enabled the child to access the top bunk easily, and provided a place to sit occasionally. The lower bed was extendable to achieve a full queen size bed dimensions and could be closed when not in use, thus providing uncluttered space on demand.
